The design's uniqueness lies in its ability to create a breezy, atmospheric habitat reminiscent of a natural woodland. This is achieved through the careful selection and combination of colors and materials, avoiding visual chaos. As day and night alternate, the play of natural light and shadows brings out various expressions from the interior, leaving the space open to endless imagination for its residents.
Geographical conditions of ventilation and natural daylight have been leveraged to create a multi-layered, oriental, and composed tone, akin to a natural forest scenery. Despite the abundant use of different materials, the space is tidily arranged and comfortable. The balance between the massive white and wood colors sets off and contrasts with each other, symbolizing the universal balance between humans and the environment.
The use of wood grain showcases the best gradation for the space. Various wood colors in multiple finishings pervade the area, creating a peaceful mood filled with botanical implications. Solid wood-veneered sliding doors represent trees and groves, while the grey rug and sofa are metaphors for sands and pebbles. The glossy-white tiled flooring refracts the penetration of nature, and the white wall is left to a broad extension of long scene.
The design also features a hidden reading area that can be unfolded by sliding the solid-wood veneered door. This door acts as an accordion partition that connects both ends, between the media living room, or gives privacy to the reading area when closed. The design was realized in Taichung city, Taiwan, and covers an area of 120 square meters.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was to allocate all wood colors and grains in appropriate placement, and to avoid chaotic visualization. To refine solid wood finishing colors, a special thermo-treatment process was undergone before surface lacquering. The result is a design that changes in accord with the circadian rhythm, offering various elegance and imagination. It is a testament to the belief that home is the most unforgettable landscape that inhabitants long for.
